Learning from Unrealized versus Realized Prices

چکیده
Our experiments investigate the extent to which traders learn from price, differentiating between situations where orders are submitted before versus after price has realized. In simultaneous markets with bids that conditional on neglect information conveyed by hypothetical value of price. sequential is known prior bid submission, react an roughly consistent benchmark theory. The difference’s robustness a number variations provides insights about drivers this effect. (JEL D44, D82, D84, G12, G14)

Realized Volatility in Noisy Prices: a MSRV approach
Volatility is the primary measure of risk in modern finance and volatility estimation and inference has attracted substantial attention in the recent financial econometric literature, especially in high-frequency analyses. High-frequency prices carry a significant amount of noise. Therefore, there are two volatility components embedded in the returns constructed using high frequency prices: the...
متن کاملAnticipated versus Realized Benefits
Economists often use event study methodology to evaluate the impact of new regulations on firms before there is enough data to empirically estimate the effects. This research investigates the degree to which event study methodology can provide useful information in this regard by studying how accurately markets predict the actual benefits associated with a new law. Specifically, I utilize a uni...
متن کاملThe unrealized promise of infant statistical word-referent learning.
Recent theory and experiments offer a new solution regarding how infant learners may break into word learning by using cross-situational statistics to find the underlying word-referent mappings. Computational models demonstrate the in-principle plausibility of this statistical learning solution and experimental evidence shows that infants can aggregate and make statistically appropriate decisio...
متن کاملDo bank mergers have hidden or foregone value? Realized and unrealized operating synergies in one bank merger
A widely publicized series of mergers has characterized the banking industry in recent years. Shareholder returns from these mergers have often been disappointing. This study finds delays in implementing potential operating savings and realizing benefits of scale economies may be one reason bank mergers have disappointing returns. We analyze a 200 branch network formed in a merger of four banks...
متن کاملMarxian reproduction prices versus prices of production: probability and convergence
I shall argue two main points. The first is that although Marx is conventionally taken to have formulated two different theories of price in the the three volumes of Capital, labour values in volume I and prices of production in volume III, there is actually a third theory, hidden inside the reproduction schemes of volume II. This theory is not explicit, but can be logically deduced from the co...
